Face the fear and do it anyway and saying yes to a webinar!
On Tuesday (9th June 2020) I was a panellist to 277 people for an Enterprise Nation Lunch and Learn Webinar.
I was invited by the Enterprise Nation team to answer questions on 'how to build an effective website'. It was wonderful to be asked and it came as a huge surprise but I jumped at the chance.
It was only the second time I have featured in an online webinar, the first was a month ago and whilst I was pretty nervous beforehand, I really enjoyed it. It turned out to be a bit of a rapid file Q&A session and I had lots of positive feedback from attendees and the organisers.
This has turned into 3 work opportunities already (in just 4 days after the event), so, I am now planning to create online courses and workshops in the future on the back of this. I’ve been thinking about doing this for some time as I really want to be able to help people more and I’ve gained a lot of knowledge and experience over my 18 plus years as a freelance creative professional. I’m very much an advocate of ‘if you don’t try, you will never know’ and I love to take part in challenges for self-development and learn new skills.
My advice to business owners is to face your fear and do it anyway and if you are ever asked to give a webinar, workshop or a presentation - say yes! Public speaking is one of the main fears held by people but it’s a great opportunity for you to share your passion with others and that passion is infectious. It will not only be a great learning experience for you, but it will also help to raise awareness of what you do, expand your reach in the number of people that you can help and generate new enquiries.
I love to help people to start new things and to follow thier passions as I have first-hand experience of how rewarding and often life-changing it can be. Things always change as change is a constant, so we can either choose to stay where we are and stagnate, or adjust, learn and grow.
